John Prine with guest Justin Townes Earle
Justin Townes Earle was born in Nashville and, as the son of famed country musician Steve Earle, grew up surrounded and influenced by country. Also like his father, Justin developed a drug addiction at a very young age, eventually being kicked out of his father's backing band on a tour date due to his addiction's severity. However, once Earle got clean his solo career began to flourish as he gained a small following with his first two albums in 2007 and 2008. His third album, 2008's Midnight at the Movies, became a breakout hit and led to hit tour date performances at Bonnaroo, SXSW, and Bumbershoot.
Earle's latest album, Harlem River Blues, features a modern sound with strong Nashville influences that is bound to appeal to both younger and older generations. Justin Townes Earle is also brining this sound on the road with tour dates in 2011, which are traveling around the UK as of late July. Earle will return to the US on July 31 to play the Newport Folk Festival, followed by a number of shows featuring supporting band Shovels & Rope. Justin Townes Earle's 2011 tour dates will conclude after a performance at Carnegie Hall on December 2, so be sure to check when this rising country star will perform near you.
